Music Ensemble - GCSE Grade 10

My name is Chong Yeon, this is my blog for the GCSE music subject. From now on I will be uploading and reflecting on my work to achieve success.
So in the first term we had to ensemble a music, supposedly we were told to play an instrument along a backing track or just play without it. It was the first recording that I have done in Grade 10.

The instrument that I had determined to play was the drum kit. My backing track was "Boulevard of Broken Dreams'' by Green Day.

Green Day is an American Punk Rock band which was formed in 1987 lead by the vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt. The most of their career they had a drummer named Tre Cool. So, for most of their career life they have played in a trio. In 2012 guitarist and backing vocalist Jason White became a member. And so on other

members joined.

This is the link to me playing the drums along the background track:

My performance was a solo performing traditional performance

The person that I am critiquing is Jiwon Ryu. He had played violin for his performance.

    Difficulty = Standard so no alteration to the raw mark is made.
    Accuracy = 7
    A competent performance with some slips which occasionally interrupt the flow. Doesn’t finish in time with the recording.
    I need a copy of the sheet music to mark this properly – I have to send it off to the exam board.
    You need to get a backing track with no drums in the recording.
    Good solo’s to do are those produced by the Rock School exam board. They have a good guidance on technical demands & have the appropriate backing tracks with the sheet music.
    Interpretation = 8
    Again, a competent performance which shows an awareness of style.
    Raw Mark = 15
    Total Mark = 15

    MYP Criteria D: Responding 5/8
    SELF:
    Getting hold of the correct type of track to drum along to would be of great benefit. See iGCSE comment for suggestion. I spoke with Mr. Marie about the sound & we can move the speakers to be behind you next time which should help with the balance so you can hear it. I think you are right, with individual specialist tuition & regular practice you should be able to improve greatly. This is a great starting point though. What can you achieve in 12 months’ time?
    PEER:
    Has a good balance of encouragement and how to improve. Try not to repeat yourself across the same markscheme. I realise you will do as you write for each different markscheme. Try to use the markchemes to guide your comments
    Overall:
    A substantial critique has been given which shows some appropriate meaning to the performances.
